Heather Mills first worked for MCJG as a law clerk in the summers of 2021 and 2022, before joining the firm as an associate attorney in the fall of 2023. Heather was raised in Stockton and graduated summa cum laude from the University of the Pacific in 2018 with a B.S. in Psychology and a double minor in Pre-Law and Business Management. Heather then proceeded to her Juris Doctorate (with great distinction) from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law in May of 2023, graduating Order of the Coif and Order of Barristers.

Heather demonstrated exceptional legal prowess during her time at Pacific McGeorge, earning several Witkin/Cali Awards (highest grade in class) for Statutes & Regulations, Written Discovery, Global Lawyering Skills II (Legal Research and Writing), and Negotiation & Settlements. She also served as a Research Assistant for Professor Michael Colatrella.

During her final year of law school Heather gained valuable insight into the judicial process when she was selected for an Externship with the Honorable Kimberly J. Mueller, Chief Judge of the United States District Court, Eastern District of California.

Heather’s oration skills were also recognized during law school. In addition to serving on the Moot Court Honors Board, Heather received awards for representing McGeorge’s Appellate Advocacy team in competitions hosted by the American Bar Association (ABA) and National Appellate Lawyers Association (ALA), including: First Place in the ALA Moot Court Competition, Second Best Brief in the American Bar Association NAAC San Francisco Regional Moot Court Competition, Top 5 in the ABA NAAC National Competition in Washington, D.C., and “Appellate Advocate of the Year” from McGeorge Moot Court Honors Board.

Heather has transferred these skills to her work at MCJG, where she focuses her practice on land use, family law, civil litigation, and appellate advocacy. She even helped draft an amicus brief regarding property rights filed with the United States Supreme Court in late 2023.
